| I began life in accountancy with J
Paterson Brodie, Burslem office in 1973, where I was involved in
accounts production and audits. I moved, to what was later to become
Barringtons Limited, in February 1978, a month after I married Clare
and had moved to live in Longton. The move was to enable me to progress
to a more active and direct involvement with clients, which necessarily
meant that I had to improve my tax knowledge, which, at the time, was
through the Chartered Accountancy examinations. I have always enjoyed
the contact with clients and count many of them as friends, some that I
have known for many years. I always enjoy meeting new clients and make
every effort to ensure they have an efficient and cost-effective
relationship with Barringtons Limited. In my spare time, of which there seems to be precious little, I enjoy: spending time with my wife and three sons; travelling, particularly in France, from where I acquired a fondness for the red grape juice; my duties as a governor of St Thomas More Catholic College in Longton; reading; calligraphy; music of all genres, though more particularly Classical these days; puzzles; cycling; singing in my church choir, and my involvement as a minister of Holy Communion at St Gregory’s R C church in Longton. |
