Mental Capacity Act 2005

Involving People in Decision Making

If your staff work with vulnerable people

  • Do they fully understand the changes introduced by this legislation and the requirements placed upon them?

  • Can you demonstrate to an external body that your staff  have been appropriately trained?

The Mental Capacity Act (MCA) applies to everyone who works with vulnerable people in Social Care and Health.  All staff are expected to understand the changes introduced by this important safeguarding legislation and to demonstrate this in their everyday practice.

If you answered No to the two questions above, your staff need some training and Barringtons Social Care Solutions are well placed to help you.

Barringtons Social Care Solutions are experienced providers of MCA training to a wide range of Social Care and Health Services and are currently running workshops throughout Staffordshire and Shropshire.  To receive details of an event near to you, please send your name, contact details and postcode to sew@barraccount.co.uk and you will receive an acknowledgement within 24 hours.

Workshops last for three hours, include the provision of quality learning materials and can be attended either in the morning (0930-1230) or afternoon (1330-1630).  The cost is £30 per person.

Alternatively, you may prefer to arrange your own in-house event.  We can supply an experienced MCA Trainer at a date and time to suit you and could also arrange a venue for you should you wish us to do so.

A third option may be for you to identify someone within your organisation to take responsibility for this training.  Barringtons Social Care Solutions can train that person to deliver this training and can provide ongoing support for this person should this be your preferred option.

Further details are available from Sheila Wood or Gail Stubbs.
